My name is Hannah Clement
I own and operate 'She’s On The Fly' guiding services
My journey with fishing started when I was very young. I spent time with my dad and brothers doing all things outdoors, however it wasn’t until I was in my teens that I really started to develop a true passion and love for our amazing New Zealand wilderness.
When I was 18 I started full time work at local outfitters Hunting and Fishing, where I was able to dedicate every moment to learning and improving my knowledge of the outdoors. I was able to learn from some incredibly experienced anglers, hunters and outdoorspeople and I have since been lucky enough to have turned that knowledge into a profession.
The next step was moving into guiding, and I worked a few seasons for different lodges and outfitters around the South Island. I became New Zealand's first female professional fishing guide registered with the NZPFGA, something I'm incredibly proud of. I hope that I can inspire more girls and young women to chase their outdoor dreams as I have. After a while, I felt it was time to come home to Canterbury and start guiding in my own right. She's On The Fly was born, and ever since I've been lucky enough to share with my clients the waters that made me fall in love with fly fishing and the outdoors, something I find hugely rewarding to this day.
It's a family affair...
It's also worth mentioning that it's not just me who makes a living from showing off our amazing outdoors to others! My partner Craig runs Southern Sky Outfitters, a hunting guiding service based here in Christchurch. Over time our separate guiding operations have become closer, and we now organically 'co-run' these ventures which often creates an easy tie in for clients wanting the best of both worlds.
Craig and I also have three keen, outdoorsy children who we try to share the hunting/fishing lifestyle with as much as possible - we want to give them all the opportunities that we've become so grateful for. We're a true kiwi outdoors family and seriously proud of it!
Outside guiding life
On a 'guides day off' you'll likely find me (you guessed it) fishing, scoping out new spots for future client trips and trying to improve and refine my skills - those monster browns aren't getting any easier! Outside of fishing, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and I'm also a bit of a kitchen whizz, my Smoked BBQ Brisket Burnt Ends are pretty good if I do say so myself!
I love challenges and learning new things, and am always eager to give things a try. Fly fishing is something I just can’t get enough of and I can’t wait to share some once in a life time memories and fishing experiences with you.
